Chris — after the giant storm, Newport Beach comes up with a world-class fishing moment.

There’s something about getting back on the water after a big storm. The coastline can look a little different, the water has a different feel, and you never quite know what the day is going to bring.

That’s what makes this photo of Chris at Newport Beach Pier such a great fishing moment.

With the American and California flags flying above the pier, Chris is holding up his catch after a day of fishing along the Southern California coast. Behind him, the harbor is busy with boats, the shoreline is back to its familiar rhythm, and the sun is shining like it’s inviting everyone to get back outside.

After a major storm, seeing a place like Newport Beach looking alive again is a reminder of why people love the coast. The ocean doesn’t stop. The boats head out, anglers cast their lines, and sooner or later, somebody gets a bite.

And on this day, Chris got his.

It may not be the biggest fish ever caught in Newport Beach, but that isn't really the point. A good fishing day is about the whole experience—the pier beneath your feet, the breeze coming off the water, the anticipation of a bite, and finally having something to show for the time you spent out there.

That’s what makes fishing memorable.

After the storm, the fishing goes on. And sometimes Newport Beach comes up with a world-class day on the water.
